Account data (email, name, and the optional details you choose to add: profile photo, date of birth, gender, nationality, phone number, handicap, home club, the clubs in your bag); golf data you record (rounds, scores, statistics, swing metrics); community activity (societies, events, kudos, comments, follows, marketplace listings and messages); membership status (whether you subscribe to Fairways+); device location while you use on-course features; and basic technical data needed to run the service.
2. How we use it
To provide the app: computing your statistics and handicap estimate, showing your activity to permitted users, running societies, events and leaderboards, powering course maps, yardages and club suggestions, generating AI coaching from your data, and operating the marketplace. We do not sell your personal data.
3. Payments
Fairways+ payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch Fairways servers — we store only your subscription status and plan. Stripe processes payment data under its own privacy policy and security certifications.
4. AI processing
Scorecard photos you scan and the numeric facts behind AI Coach reviews (your round statistics, or your swing metrics) are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, to generate text. Swing Studio videos are analysed entirely on your device — the video is never uploaded; only the resulting numbers (tempo, turn, sway and similar) are stored with your account. We do not use your data to train AI models.
5. What others can see
Your profile (name, photo, handicap, member number, location city) is visible to signed-in users. Published rounds are visible according to their visibility setting. Society activity is visible to the relevant society. Marketplace messages are visible only to the buyer and seller of that conversation. Your date of birth, phone number, payment details, precise GPS position and swing analyses are never shown to other users.
6. Where it lives
Data is stored with our processors: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI text generation), and Resend (transactional email, when we email you). Course maps are rendered by Mapbox, which receives map-tile requests from your device. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email and profile photo with us. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
7. Your choices
You can edit your profile, control round visibility, and delete your content. Deleting your account removes your profile and personal data from the app; content already shared with others (e.g. comments in a thread) may persist in anonymised form. Location access can be revoked in your device settings — on-course yardages will stop working. Camera access is only used when you choose to scan a scorecard or film a swing.
