The Majlis is the course that started golf in the Gulf. Karl Litten's 1988 design was the first all-grass course in the Middle East, and it has hosted the Dubai Desert Classic almost every year since 1989 — the roll of winners runs from Seve Ballesteros through Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton. The par-72 layout takes its name from the Bedouin meeting-place clubhouse and is defined by its closing two: the drivable-in-two par-5 18th over water, where the tournament is so often decided.
